Looking at food as a young New Yorker

After getting horrendously sick on Saturday night and spending my Super Bowl eating plain pasta and toast, I haven’t really been able to think about food for the past couple of days. Actually, that’s a lie—I have been thinking about food but it has been somewhat painful to do so.

I’m hoping to be fully recovered by tomorrow so I can enjoy dinner at Lupa with two friends of mine. Hope to discover a new relatively low priced place to have a good meal from time to time. I’ve also begun to read 'Heat' and am thinking of attempting to do a week of Batali when my school breaks for two weeks at the end of March. There are worse ways to spend a spring break than getting fat while eating pasta…

An interesting article in the Style section of the Sunday Times on food bloggers whose sites are more trafficked than mine.

This presents a history of the dish that appears on almost every Chinese restaurant menu in the country. If you ever wondered who the mysterious General Tso might be, this one’s for you.

I randomly came across this article while browsing the internet. The picture makes the kid look like he has a lot of ‘feelings’ bottled up inside. On the other hand its kind of ridiculous that he’s running a restaurant at 17.

Two stories I intend on following—

The infamous Bordeaux theft of ’05. I kind of like the idea of a master thief with an extensive knowledge of fine wine.

Apparently Russell Simmons really, really dislikes foie gras. Already banned by legislation in California and Chicago, the fuss over foie gras seems to be picking up steam in New York. I can go on a rant about this but I will wisely choose not to at this time.
